The Climate Agenda is looking for a dynamic and passionate individual with creative skills to engage stakeholders and implement climate campaign plans while contributing to the development of strategies to achieve agreed objectives. The role focuses on the brick kiln sector in Uttar Pradesh, requiring the candidate to navigate and negotiate with tough stakeholders, primarily kiln owners. Given the industry’s presence in rural areas, the person must be comfortable spending significant time in rural belts. Additionally, the candidate should develop a deep understanding of the campaign issues to effectively represent the organization in various forums. A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in social campaigns is essential for this position.

  1. Develop a deep understanding of air pollution in the brick kiln sector and its links to climate, equity, gender, and social justice issues in rural Uttar Pradesh.
  2. Engage with kiln owners and workers, rural communities, and other stakeholders to gather support and build a public mandate for the campaign’s recommendations on decarbonization.
  3. Design and implement creative engagement strategies to mobilize public opinion and secure community backing for policy recommendations aimed at decarbonizing the brick kiln sector.
  4. Conduct research and regularly communicate insights internally, ensuring alignment with campaign goals and the evolving needs of stakeholders.
  5. Learn and apply campaign development tools, with mentorship from the campaign manager, to enhance outreach and advocacy efforts.
  6. Lead awareness drives, consultations, and advocacy initiatives to present campaign recommendations to the government with a strong public mandate. 
  7. Contribute to strategic planning and campaign design, ensuring that engagement efforts reflect the realities and challenges of the brick kiln sector.
  8. Represent The Climate Agenda at forums, public events, and government consultations to advocate for the adoption of campaign recommendations.
  9. Build and strengthen collaborations with CSO networks across Uttar Pradesh to amplify advocacy efforts and broaden stakeholder participation.
  10. Liaise with government officials Labor Department, Pollution Control Board, Skill Development Mission, UPNEDA, and other relevant departments associated with the brick kiln industry), political leaders, and decision-makers to advance campaign objectives and ensure policy alignment.
  11. Organize workshops, public meetings, and capacity-building sessions in rural and peri-urban areas to drive awareness and encourage community involvement.
  12. Willingness to travel extensively to rural kiln sites and campaign areas, ensuring consistent on-ground engagement and follow-up.
  1. Master’s Degree or equivalent degree in the field of Social Work, Development Studies, Sociology and other related fields.
  2. 2-3 years of proven work experience as Campaigner/Field Officer/Coordinator with Social Campaigns.
  3. Ability to plan, conceptualise, strategize and execute high-impact end-to-end on-ground social campaigns. 
  4. Draft detailed work plans to handhold implementation in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  1. Outstanding networking and relationship-building skills.
  2. Strong understanding of UP’s social economic and political context.
  3. Fluency in Hindi, and proficiency in English.
  4. Ability to work on interdisciplinary assignments.
  5. Proficiency in the use of MS Office tools for the creation of presentations, plans, and monitoring reports.
  6. Basic understanding of climate issues.

  2. Should possess the necessary leadership skills to provide vision, strategy, and overall direction to ensure achievement of desired outcomes.
  3. Must be enthusiastic with a willingness to learn and contribute towards the growth of the organization.
