A Report on SangGati’s Participation in the Lucknow Pride Walk.

 

Summary:

SangGati recently took a bold step in advocating for a public transport system that caters to all gender-diverse needs. This endeavour was manifested through active participation in the Pride Walk held in Lucknow city, where our volunteers showcased their commitment through handcrafted posters and a compelling banner, conveying the message that public transport empowers pride. This report details the preparations, the event itself, and the impact it had on the community.

Introduction:

The intersectionality of climate action and LGBTQ+ rights have never been more evident than in our campaign to create a public transport system sensitive to gender-diverse needs. The Lucknow Pride Walk provided a perfect platform to amplify this message, and our SangGati  team was eager to seize the opportunity. 

Preparations:

In the days leading up to the Pride Walk, SangGati volunteers dedicated their time and creativity to craft handmade posters. These posters were not only visually appealing but also carried powerful messages advocating for inclusive public transport. The artistic expression reflected our commitment to promoting equality and inclusivity. 

Additionally, a distinctive banner was designed to represent our organization’s stance on the intersectionality of climate action and LGBTQ+ rights. The slogan “Public Transport Empowers Pride” was prominently featured, serving as a unifying theme for our participation in the event. 

Event Day:

On the day of the Pride Walk, SangGati team arrived early to ensure a smooth and impactful participation. Volunteers proudly displayed the handcrafted posters, each carrying a unique message that highlighted the importance of a public transport system that respects and caters to the diverse needs of the LGBTQ+ community.

The SangGati Volunteers exuded infectious joy and exuberance throughout their participation in the Pride Walk. Their spirits were remarkably high, and an atmosphere of celebration surrounded the entire event. The volunteers not only conveyed their dedication to the cause through thoughtfully crafted posters and a compelling banner, but they also added a vibrant touch to the march by breaking into spontaneous dances, synchronizing their movements to the energetic beats of Nagada tunes.

Our participation did not end with the physical presence at the Pride Walk. Social media platforms were effectively utilized to share highlights, images, and videos, ensuring that the message reached a broader audience.
