Formed during 2017 assembly elections in UP and having achieved satisfactory wins, 100%UP now envisions the need of replication of the same idea to other geographies as well. This can be an expansion of the present, one state network to an Indo-Gangetic states wide network of people, organisations, institutions and audiences who are struggling to achieve people’s access to clean air and well being as people’s fundamental right.
Clean Air Republic – the brainchild of TCA is a network of people who are working towards the achievement of clean air for all citizens. The network will have as members the representatives of various institutions, organisations, and action groups who are dedicating their time and effort into ensuring that every citizen gets the right to healthy and clean air.
Air pollution has currently become a magnanimous problem and it continues to grow bigger and more deadly with every second that passes by. More and more toxic and hazardous gasses are being released into the atmosphere through various sources, reducing the air quality and increasing health risks.
The Clean Air Republic will be a community with people from diverse backgrounds representing all social classes, civil organisations, public institutions, and governmental bodies. The target of the Clean Air Republic is to bring unified action towards the implementation of the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP). Launched in 2019, the NCAP’s implementation on ground has been rather slow and only for show cause.
The inter-sectoral reach of air pollution and its harmful impacts has deep and profound impacts upon the people. Air pollution impacts people differently on the basis of their backgrounds of age, caste, gender, region, and social status. It is one of the goals of Clean Air Republic to include from every background to understand and reflect upon the type of solution different sections of societies need to tackle air pollution.
With the transition of 100% UP into the Clean Air Republic, along with the partner organisations, TCA envisions to expand the ambit of the network to more places and people. With the transition of 100% UP into the Clean Air Republic, along with the partner organisations, TCA envisions to expand the ambit of the network to incorporate more people and places. A cohort of organisations working across culture, education, economic and other sectors to bring king-pointed solutions to distinct problems of air pollution. A decentralized and self-sustaining nexus that strengthens the local voices and supports climate action. It is imperative to accommodate all voices to generate and up-scale solutions that have long lasting impacts upon all sectors, genders, social classes, and ages.
